Sizzle without Flash

SWOF is the idea that exciting and dynamic websites can be built without the use of browser plug-ins. Here's a list of a few great open-source Javascript libraries that enable you to do amazing things without relying on Adobe Flash or Microsoft Silverlight.

Libraries

• Prototype (http://prototypejs.org)
  Implements an object-oriented framework, provides a few utility functions and extends the DOM.
• Scriptaculous (http://script.aculo.us)
  Based on Prototype. Scriptaculous is actually several libraries rolled into a single distribution. Provides visual effects, AJAX processing functions, drag and drop functions and more.
• Prototype Window (http://www.xilinus.com)
  Based on Prototype and compatible with Scriptaculous. Provides a framework for building movable, resizable windows within the browser window.
• MooTools (http://mootools.net)
  Implements an object-oriented framework, provides utility functions, extends the DOM and includes AJAX & visual effects functions.
